I love the fava blossoms and they have such a wonderful delicate scent.
We ate all the beans and I'll be planting some Guatemalan Purple favas
this fall for early
spring harvest once I lay out next years planting scheme.

This is the second planting of Royal Burgundy bush beans. They get beat
up badly by slugs, but they seem pretty tough so I'll see if I can find
them a better place next year. There is a squash of unknown variety
headed Downriver and behind this bed is the former Dwarf Grey snow pea
bed now
wearing a cloche. The laundry basket is for hauling out weeds.

Here we have a mishmash of late planted things. Last year I had a box
of my seeds get wet in the greenhouse so after we put together this
quick bed out of old porch pieces, I dumped the packets and envelopes
into the dirt. There is mostly various squashes, tomatoes and
tomatillos. It's unlikely anything will ripen as I tossed them out
there in early July, but it'll be good green compost.

I suppose I could eat these, but they're the female flowers as the
males have already come and gone. It's an El Niño year so we're
due for a mild winter. It's fun to see how far things will go before
the rains come.
There's more?
