As you can see the cedar shake is in great shape. ![]() This is the trail down to the Skagit River. More moss-covered maples and ferns. The trail goes down a ways and then back up slightly to a natural dike before dropping to the shore. My guess is that it's about 500 feet to the river's edge. The elevation difference is not great, but enough to put the house out of the 100-year flood plain and significantly above the visible normal high water mark. The flood of '95 did not reach the house. ![]() This is Annie up on the berm by the river's edge. I'm standing down on the sand. She's probably 8 to 10 feet above me. There's a gully between this berm and the house which is probably 20 feet above the current water level. ![]() The shore is overgrown with alder saplings, horsetails and salmonberries. This area appears to have been underwater over the winter. ![]() This is a cleared area of beach slightly upriver of the river trail. It is looking to the Northeast. Page 3 |
